March 2017 Program
Connie Bradley will give a brief history/overview of rug hooking with show and tells on the various types, briefly talk about dyeing wool (she teachs a dye class in May) and then have a “hands on” try of hooking. She will bring a couple frames with wool for just “puttering”.
She will also bring some kits for those interested with step by step directions in case they want to try on their own at home. Kits are around $25-$28 each.
Connie has been rug hooking for over 28 years and learned from her Mother, who was also a teacher. She became a McGown Teacher 14 years ago along with her Mother and is versed in traditional rug hooking (or tapestry hooking) as well as wide cut and primitive rug hooking.
For about 6 years she has held rug hooking and wool applique gatherings at her home. Last year she added on an addition and opened the Wool Yankers’ store at her house. Her store carries bolts of wool, rug hooking patterns, kits, rug hooking supplies. She also carries wool applique patterns and kits, along with some supplies for punch needle, including Valdani pearl cotton.
In addition to our interesting program on classic rug hooking with Connie Bradley, we will have a general meeting and ‘SHOW AND TELL”.
