Artist Bio:
In 2015 we started our Alpaca farm. We bought a couple of alpacas at auction on a whim and away we went. We now have 14 alpacas. We use the fleece for dyeing, felting, spinning, weaving, crocheting and knitting. We hope that by the end of this year we will be able to start selling the yarn that a fellow guild member spinns for us.
I have been interested in fiber arts my entire life. I had my first lesson on a spinning wheel from Sarah T. at the Lorain County Fair in the Dairy Barn when I was maybe 6. I now spin, dye fiber and weave on either a 4 harness counterbalance loom or a 4 harness Jack loom. I really enjoy the actual science and process of how fiber is made into real things. With weaving I enjoy the reward of seeing fabric being created. You plan, get the loom set up and start weaving. Before you know it, you get in a groove and then the excitement comes as you see fabric being made right before your eyes. I am not skilled at spinning yet, but that will come with practice.
